The Mission

Engenius Solutions is a non-profit division of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology that strives to provide an environment for entrepreneurial and project experiences that enable students to learn about the facets of technical innovation.

The Initiative

Engenius Solutions is an educational venture at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology that allocates financial, intellectual, and technological resources in an effort to cultivate entrepreneurial activity throughout Indiana. We accept ideas from Inventor's and Innovator's and have student teams develop them with market and consumer needs in mind. Engenius Solutions also utilizes Rose-Hulman faculty and surrounding business schools to ensure the idea has been evaluated by both engineering and business experts. Once the product is developed, it is marketed to industry leaders in an effort to commercialize the project.

The Begining

In the Fall of 2001, professors submitted a proposal to Lilly Endowment, Inc. for a grant to create a Web Mall that would be "a dynamic student-run showcase of Rose-Hulman capabilities that will attract project possibilities from (entities) who see how the students' work can effectively move ideas to the illustrative prototype phase. After students have the experience in designing and prototyping the idea, the Web Mall will be used to publicize its availability." The proposed grant was awarded in March 2002 and the Web Mall, which later became Engenius Solutions, was born.

The Evolution

The principles and goals contained in the original grant will always govern Engenius Solutions, but since the beginning, many changes and improvements have been made. Engenius Solutions has evolved into much more than a showcase of ideas and projects. We have transformed into an organization that actively seeks out inventions and innovations and connects them with potential avenues for commercialization. Much like all successful endeavors, Engenius Solutions will continue to adapt to reach its fullest potential.
